Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro (wym. [kɾɨʃtiˈɐnu ʁuˈnaɫdu]; ur. 5 lutego 1985 roku w Funchal) – portugalski piłkarz, grający na pozycji napastnika, zawodnik Realu Madryt i reprezentacji Portugalii, której jest też kapitanem.
Klubową karierę Ronaldo rozpoczął w wieku 8 lat, w małym klubie CF Andorinha, gdzie sprzątał jego ojciec. W wieku 10 lat zainteresowały się nim dwa największe kluby z Madery: CS Marítimo i CD Nacional, ale ostatecznie trafił do Nacionalu, gdzie grał do 2001 r., bowiem w tym roku przeniósł się do Sportingu. W czasie mistrzostw Europy U-17 był obserwowany przez Liverpool i Juventus po tym, jak jego zespół pokonał reprezentację Anglii, lecz ostatecznie trafił do Manchesteru United. W spotkaniu Ligi Mistrzów Manchesteru United z AS Roma (7:1) strzelił swoje pierwsze gole w Champions League. Mistrz Anglii w sezonie 2006/2007 oraz 2007/2008 z drużyną Manchesteru United.
W sezonie 2007/2008 wraz ze swoją drużyną zdobył Puchar Europy po wygranym 6:5 w rzutach karnych finale z Chelsea. Po tym zwycięstwie został wybrany najlepszym graczem Ligi Mistrzów 2007/2008. W 2008 r. został laureatem Złotej Piłki magazynu France Football. W czerwcu 2009 Manchester United zaakceptował propozycję kupna Cristiano Ronaldo złożoną przez Real Madryt[2]. Hiszpański klub zaoferował za piłkarza 93,2 mln euro. 26 czerwca 2009 Ronaldo został oficjalnie ogłoszony nowym piłkarzem Realu i tym samym stał się najdroższym piłkarzem w historii[3]. Na jego prezentacji zjawiło się ponad 80 tys. widzów[4], co również jest rekordem jeśli chodzi o liczbę osób na prezentacji jednego zawodnika. Wcześniejszy rekord należał do prezentacji Diego Maradony, którego w Neapolu przywitało 75 tys. widzów. Portugalczyk otrzymał numer 9 z którym w Realu grali m.in. Alfredo Di Stéfano czy Brazylijczyk Ronaldo[5]. W sezonie 2010/2011 (po odejściu z Realu Madryt Raula) Cristiano Ronaldo został zgłoszony do rozgrywek Primera División z numerem 7. W dniu 15 grudnia 2013 r. w Funchal, które jest rodzinnym miastem Ronaldo otworzono muzeum poświęcone jego karierze[6].
