Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro (Funchal, Madeira, Portugal, 5 de febrero de 1985), mejor conocido como Cristiano Ronaldo (AFI: kɾiʃˈtiɐnu ʁuˈnaɫdu), es un futbolista portugués que juega como extremo en el Real Madrid Club de Fútbol, de la Primera División de España.
Identificado en los medios de comunicación con el numerónimo CR7,n 1 es considerado uno de los mejores futbolistas del mundo, llegando incluso a ser el mejor y más completo para un elevado número de personas y prensa vinculadas al deporte,n 2 así como también una de las figuras más mediáticas de la actualidad.4 Es el cuarto máximo goleador en la historia del Real Madrid C. F. —tras haber superado sucesivamente a grandes jugadores como Amancio Amaro,5 Emilio Butragueño,6 Pirri,7 Paco Gento,8 Hugo Sánchez9 y Ferenc Puskás;10 estos dos últimos durante la temporada 2013-14— consiguiéndolo en apenas cinco temporadas en el club.10
A lo largo de su carrera profesional Cristiano ha conseguido batir diversos récords. Entre ellos se destacan el ser el máximo goleador de la historia de la selección de fútbol de Portugal con 52 tantos en 118 partidos, superando por 5 tantos a Pedro Pauleta.11 También madridista que menos partidos necesitó (92) para alcanzar los cien goles en el campeonato de Liga,12 ser el primer futbolista en la historia de la Liga que consiguió marcarle a todos los equipos a los que se enfrentó en una temporada,13 o ser hasta el momento el único futbolista de la historia capaz de marcar en seis «Clásicos» consecutivos.14 Es también el único futbolista que ha conseguido marcar en seis visitas consecutivas al Camp Nou, estadio de máxima rivalidad para «los blancos»,15 además de ser el portugués que más goles ha marcado en Champions League —máxima competición a nivel de clubes en Europa— con un total de 73 tras superar a su compatriota Eusébio,16 y al español Raúl González como máximo goleador histórico del torneo.17 n 3
