The 2026 Dutch Grand Prix (officially known as the Formula 1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix 2026) was a Formula One motor race held on 23 August 2026 at Circuit Zandvoort in Zandvoort, the Netherlands. It was the twelfth round of the 2026 Formula One World Championship and the fifth of six Grands Prix in the season to utilise the sprint format. The event was the final scheduled running of the Dutch Grand Prix before its departure from the Formula One calendar.
George Russell (Mercedes) secured pole position for the sprint and converted it into victory ahead of Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) and Lando Norris (McLaren). Norris took pole position for the main race, ahead of Russell and Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes). The race began on a damp circuit following pre-race rain and was red-flagged at the end of the opening lap after Max Verstappen (Red Bull) lost control at the banked final corner and crashed heavily. Antonelli overtook Norris for the lead at the standing restart and led for much of the race, Norris extended his penultimate stint to gain a tyre-life advantage. After rejoining behind Antonelli and the out-of-sequence Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari), Norris overtook both drivers on lap 54 and retained the lead. He won ahead of Antonelli and Russell, securing his second consecutive victory following the Hungarian Grand Prix, the thirteenth victory of his Formula One career and his second at Zandvoort.

Pre-race
Heavy rain fell at Zandvoort during the hour preceding the race, leaving parts of the circuit damp and making the choice between slick and intermediate-wet tyres uncertain. The rain had stopped by the time the pit lane opened, and the field elected to start on dry-weather tyres. Pole-sitter Lando Norris (McLaren) was joined on the front row by George Russell (Mercedes), with Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) and Oscar Piastri (McLaren) on the second row. Sergio Pérez (Cadillac) was required to start from the pit lane after suspension set-up changes were made to his car under parc fermé conditions. Norris, Russell, Antonelli and Piastri selected the medium compound for the start, as did Pierre Gasly (Alpine), Franco Colapinto (Alpine) and Esteban Ocon (Haas). Most of the remaining drivers chose soft tyres, while both Cadillac drivers started on hards. Owing to the circuit remaining partly wet, the formation lap was conducted behind the safety car, after which the cars lined up for a standing start.
Start and red flag
Norris retained the lead at the start, while Antonelli passed Russell to take second place. Behind them, Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) overtook Piastri for fourth, and Max Verstappen (Red Bull) ran alongside Liam Lawson (Red Bull) through the opening sequence of corners. At the end of lap 1, Verstappen lost control on the damp inside edge of the banked final corner as he accelerated while part of his car remained on the painted line. His car struck the outside barrier heavily and rebounded towards the circuit; the rest of the field avoided him, and he was uninjured. The accident caused Verstappen's retirement and prompted a red flag. On the same lap, Gabriel Bortoleto (Audi) spun through a full rotation while attempting to avoid the slowing cars and dropped to 18th place, while Nico Hülkenberg (Audi) took evasive action to avoid contact. Verstappen later accepted responsibility for the accident, and Red Bull found no mechanical fault with his car.
Red-flag restart
The running order reverted to that recorded at the end of lap 1, and the teams used the stoppage to change tyres. Norris fitted soft tyres, while Piastri switched to hards. Oliver Bearman (Haas) suffered a power-unit problem while travelling to the grid and stopped between turns 10 and 11, ending his race and necessitating an additional formation lap. Arvid Lindblad (Racing Bulls) and Colapinto were investigated for overtaking under double yellow flags following Verstappen's accident; both subsequently received drive-through penalties. The race resumed with a standing start on lap 5. Antonelli made the better launch and passed Norris on the inside at Tarzan corner to take the lead, while Piastri overtook Russell at turn 7 for third. Russell dropped to fourth, ahead of Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari), with Lawson seventh as the sole remaining Red Bull driver.
Antonelli initially opened a gap of more than one second over Norris, keeping the McLaren driver out of Overtake Mode range, while Piastri remained close enough to keep the leading pair in sight. Russell, who reported balance problems, headed a closely grouped train containing Leclerc and Hamilton, with neither Ferrari driver able to attempt a pass without compromising their corner exits. Lawson consolidated seventh place ahead of Gasly, Hülkenberg and Yuki Tsunoda (Racing Bulls), while Lindblad and Colapinto served their drive-through penalties and dropped to the rear of the field. Norris gradually reduced Antonelli's advantage, although Antonelli remained more stable through the faster sections and repeatedly rebuilt his margin in the final sector.
First pit stops
Russell was the first of the leading drivers to make a scheduled pit stop, changing from medium to hard tyres on lap 16 and rejoining in traffic. Piastri, who had restarted on hard tyres, stopped one lap later, but a slow service brought him back out behind Russell. Russell subsequently passed Gasly and Hülkenberg as he worked his way through the traffic. Antonelli and Norris stopped on lap 22 and fitted hard tyres; Antonelli retained the lead, although neither stop was especially quick. Leclerc pitted for mediums at the same stage, while Hamilton extended his stint and temporarily moved into first place. Hamilton remained on track until lap 26, when he fitted hard tyres and rejoined in sixth place, with clear air in which to close on the cars ahead. Once the first pit-stop cycle was complete, Antonelli led Norris, followed by Russell, Piastri, Leclerc and Hamilton.
The pit stops compressed several cars into a midfield group headed by Carlos Sainz Jr. (Williams). Lindblad, Hülkenberg, Gasly and Tsunoda ran in close succession behind him, and Hülkenberg made several passes in rapid succession as he recovered towards the points after starting 13th. Tsunoda also overtook Gasly, who was struggling for traction. At the front, Norris had moved back to within a second of Antonelli by lap 30, although a moment of oversteer briefly interrupted his progress. Leclerc simultaneously closed on Piastri and passed him around the outside of the banked turn 3 on lap 34; Hamilton followed by overtaking Piastri into turn 1 on the next lap. At half distance, Antonelli led Norris and Russell, with Leclerc, Hamilton and Piastri completing the top six; Lawson, Hülkenberg, Tsunoda and Gasly occupied the remaining points-paying positions.
Second pit stops
Mercedes initiated the second round of pit stops shortly after lap 40, bringing Antonelli in for another set of hard tyres before pitting Russell soon afterwards. Hamilton had by then caught Leclerc and asked Ferrari to reverse their order, but no exchange was made. Leclerc initially continued past the pit entry after being called in and stopped on the following lap, losing further time during the service; Hamilton expressed frustration over the radio as he remained behind his teammate. Piastri's stop was also slow, and he rejoined in sixth place. Norris extended his middle stint until lap 48, seven laps longer than Antonelli, before fitting fresh hard tyres. He rejoined approximately five seconds behind Antonelli, but the offset in tyre age enabled him to close quickly. Hamilton, whose own final stop had not yet been made, inherited the on-track lead, with Antonelli and Norris immediately behind him.
By lap 52, Norris was directly behind Antonelli, whose rear tyres were beginning to lose grip. Antonelli nevertheless remained close enough to Hamilton to use Overtake Mode and attempted to pass into turn 1 on lap 54. He moved towards the inside, leaving Norris the cleaner outside line; Norris braked later and swept around the outside of Antonelli to take second place. Later on the same lap, Hamilton ran wide at turn 10, allowing Norris to draw alongside and complete the pass for the lead through the following sequence of corners. Antonelli overtook Hamilton soon afterwards, but Norris had already begun to establish a margin at the front.
Race conclusion
A virtual safety car was deployed on lap 55 to recover Ocon's car, which had stopped on track. Antonelli and Hamilton used the neutralisation to fit soft tyres, while Norris and Russell remained on their existing hards. The virtual safety car period ended before Norris could make a stop without relinquishing the lead, leaving him several seconds ahead of Russell at the restart, with Antonelli a similar distance behind Russell. Antonelli's newer soft tyres enabled him to close rapidly, and Mercedes instructed Russell to yield second place on lap 65 so that Antonelli could pursue Norris. Russell initially questioned the instruction because of the risk that Hamilton might also catch him, but complied; after the race, he accepted that the swap had been justified by Antonelli's tyre advantage. Antonelli initially reduced Norris's lead, but his soft tyres then began to fade and Norris again pulled clear.
A late collision between Williams teammates Sainz and Alexander Albon left debris at turn 5 and triggered a second virtual safety car period on lap 70. Sainz subsequently received a ten-second time penalty for causing the collision, while Albon retired. The interruption effectively ended Antonelli's opportunity to challenge for victory. Norris controlled the final restart and won by more than eleven seconds over Antonelli, while Russell resisted late pressure from Hamilton to complete the podium; Leclerc finished fifth and Piastri sixth. Lawson crossed the line seventh and retained the position despite receiving a ten-second penalty for failing to slow sufficiently under yellow flags. Hülkenberg finished eighth, while Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) used a long one-stop strategy to rise from 18th on the grid to ninth, ahead of Gasly. Tsunoda, Lindblad and Bortoleto were the next three finishers. Colapinto also received a ten-second penalty for failing to slow under yellow flags, in addition to his earlier drive-through, but neither his final position nor Lawson's changed. Pérez and Sainz completed the classified finishers, while Albon, Valtteri Bottas (Cadillac), Ocon, Lance Stroll (Aston Martin), Bearman and Verstappen did not finish.
