Description

Ryan Bensley is a British racing driver currently competing in the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship (BTCC). Born on 17 July 1984 in King's Lynn, Norfolk, he has followed a highly unconventional route to reach the pinnacle of British motorsport.
Bensley began karting at the age of eight, famously racing against future seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton.
In 2025, Bensley made a surprise, one-off BTCC debut at his home circuit, Snetterton, substituting for Michael Crees at Team VERTU (EXCELR8 Motorsport). He impressed the paddock immediately by scoring points on his debut in a Hyundai i30 Fastback N. In July 2026, Speedworks Corolla Racing announced a mid-season driver reshuffle, bringing Bensley in to drive a Toyota Corolla GR Sport for the remainder of the 2026 campaign. He replaced Max Buxton, who transitioned to a development and reserve role.
