Description
• The Start & Chaos: Dexter Patterson started from reverse-grid pole position. However, opening-lap chaos down Paddock Hill Bend triggered an early safety car. The multi-car melee forced the retirement of Tom Chilton—ending his lengthy British Touring Car Championship career in the gravel—and knocked out outgoing champion Tom Ingram, who was taken to the hospital for precautionary CT scans.
• On-Track Action: Once racing resumed, Ricky Collard took the lead and fended off intense pressure from the NAPA Racing UK Fords. Ash Sutton made a brilliant charge but dropped back after going off-track at Westfields, ultimately recovering to finish on the podium.
• The Penalty Decision: Collard crossed the finish line first to celebrate what seemed like his maiden BTCC victory. However, officials later applied a 5-second penalty for a restart infringement. This demoted Collard to 8th place and handed the official Round 30 victory to Dan Cammish.
