Description

Two unbeaten British cruiserweights collide in Manchester as John Hedges faces Pat Brown in a significant domestic showdown at Co-op Live. Hedges enters with the greater professional experience and a 12-0 record, while Brown has made an explosive start to his paid career, winning each of his first six bouts inside the distance after representing Great Britain at the 2024 Olympics. The contest carries substantial stakes, with the vacant British and Commonwealth cruiserweight titles on the line alongside the WBA International and IBF Intercontinental belts. Hedges’ length and more measured boxing style provide an intriguing contrast to Brown’s aggressive, heavy-handed approach, making this one of the most notable all-British cruiserweight matchups of the year.

Result Description

Pat Brown delivered the biggest win of his young professional career in Manchester, stopping John Hedges in the sixth round to claim the vacant British and Commonwealth cruiserweight titles. Fighting in front of his home crowd at Co-op Live, Brown gradually imposed his pressure and power against the previously unbeaten Hedges before a punishing body attack brought the contest to an end. Hedges had moments of success with his length and southpaw stance, but Brown’s aggression became increasingly difficult to contain as the fight progressed. The finish came in the sixth when Brown landed a decisive shot to the body that left Hedges unable to continue, extending Brown’s perfect professional record and giving the 2024 Olympian two major domestic titles in only his seventh professional fight.
