The final 18 holes at the DLF Golf and Country Club presented the ultimate test of nerves on the DP World Tour’s most intimidating layout. The primary challenge for the leaders was the "Black Knight" course’s brutal final stretch, where water hazards and elevation changes have historically derailed championship hopes. For overnight leader Alex Fitzpatrick, the objective was to secure his maiden DP World Tour title and step out of the shadow of his major-winning brother, Matt, while defending champion Eugenio Chacarra aimed to become the first back-to-back winner in the tournament's history.

Strategically, the final round was a battle of discipline versus aggression. The objective for the chasing pack, led by Niklas Nørgaard and Freddy Schott, was to apply pressure early on the front nine before the course tightened up. With the pins tucked in high-risk, high-reward positions, the tactical priority for the field was to avoid the "big miss" that could lead to a double-bogey or worse. As the final pairing reached the turn, the goal for Fitzpatrick was to maintain his composure and rely on the stellar scrambling that had kept him atop the leaderboard all week.

Alex Fitzpatrick survived a rollercoaster final round to claim his first DP World Tour title at the 2026 Hero Indian Open. Entering the day with a two-shot lead, Fitzpatrick saw his cushion vanish after a double-bogey on the par-3 3rd hole. However, the Englishman showed incredible resilience, birdying the 8th and 11th to regain control. Despite a late scare on the par-5 18th where his approach shot narrowly avoided the water, Fitzpatrick scrambled for a par to sign for a 1-under 71, finishing at 14-under par for the tournament.

The victory was far from certain as Niklas Nørgaard mounted a furious charge, firing a 5-under 67 to finish just one stroke back at 13-under. Nørgaard had a 15-foot birdie putt on the last to force a playoff, but the ball agonisingly caught the lip and stayed out. Defending champion Eugenio Chacarra struggled to find his rhythm on the greens, carding an even-par 72 to finish in solo third at 11-under. For the home crowd, the story of the day was Ajeetesh Sandhu, who delivered a brilliant 4-under 68 to finish in a tie for fourth at 10-under, marking the best performance by an Indian golfer in the event since 2017.
