Young Kiwi amateur Yuki Miya has sent shockwaves through the field at Millbrook Resort, carding a resilient second-round 5-under 67 to sit alone at the top of the leaderboard at 12-under par. Despite the immense pressure of leading a world-class field, the 20-year-old Christchurch native showed maturity beyond his years, recovering from a mid-round double bogey to secure a one-stroke cushion heading into the weekend. Miya’s performance has captivated the local crowd, as he aims to become the first amateur to win the New Zealand Open since 1956.
