Description

Rising light heavyweight star Ben Whittaker returns to the ring as a headliner on Saturday night, April 18, 2026, at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool. The primary challenge for Whittaker is proving he can transition from "viral sensation" to a world-class contender against Argentina's heavy-handed Braian Suarez, who has knocked out 20 of his 21 victims. The objective for "The Surgeon" is to showcase his trademark flair and technical defensive wizardry while maintaining the power he displayed in his recent Matchroom debut.

Strategically, the goal for this 10-round non-title bout is for Whittaker to handle the pressure of the main event stage after replacing the injured Callum Smith. The tactical focus for Suarez is to use his natural power to corner the elusive Brit, much like he did when he dropped Lyndon Arthur in their 2023 clash. With Whittaker weighing in at a career-heavy 182 lbs 14 oz and eyeing a US debut later this summer, the ultimate goal is to keep his unbeaten record intact and secure a mandatory position in the light heavyweight rankings.
