The 2026 FIA Formula 2 season concludes its opening weekend with the high-stakes Feature Race at the Albert Park Circuit. Spanning 33 laps, this race introduces the added complexity of mandatory pit stops, forcing teams to balance raw speed with tire preservation and strategic timing. The "green" street circuit will be at its most rubbered-in state following the Formula 1 qualifying sessions, but the threat of a Safety Car remains high, which can completely reset the strategy for the leaders.

Dino Beganovic starts from the pole after a commanding performance in qualifying, and he will be eager to secure his first win of the season after a quiet Sprint Race. He shares the front row with Martinius Stenshorne, while Alex Dunne and Noel León lurk behind in the second row. A key driver to watch is Joshua Dürksen, who enters the Feature Race with massive momentum following his dominant victory in Saturday's Sprint. Additionally, Gabriele Minì will be looking to repeat his heroic charge from the back of the grid, having already demonstrated that overtaking is possible on this revised Melbourne layout.

Nikola Tsolov (Campos Racing) delivered a historic performance at Albert Park, claiming his and Bulgaria's first-ever FIA Formula 2 victory in a chaotic Feature Race. Tsolov, who started fifth, capitalized on a disastrous Lap 3 collision between Rodin teammates Alex Dunne and Martinius Stenshorne while they were battling for the lead. The contact sent both cars into the gravel and handed the provisional lead to Tsolov. Despite a late-race strategy scare during a Safety Car period caused by pole-sitter Dino Beganovic’s mechanical failure, Tsolov executed a decisive pass on Nico Varrone to reclaim the lead and win by 1.6 seconds.

The podium was a showcase for the class of 2026 rookies, as Rafael Câmara (Invicta Racing) secured a brilliant second place in his debut Feature Race. Laurens van Hoepen produced a stunning drive for Trident to round out the podium in third, marking the team’s first top-three finish since 2024. Further down the field, Colton Herta successfully navigated the carnage to finish seventh, securing his first points in F2, while Ritomo Miyata and Oliver Goethe rounded out the top five. The result leaves Tsolov at the top of the Drivers’ Championship with 25 points as the series prepares to head to Bahrain for Round 2.
