Brackley, situated 70 miles northwest of London, has been the home of the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team ever since the three-pointed star returned to F1 with its own works team in 2010. The team operates a state-of-the-art technology centre in Brackley that covers an area of 60,000 square metres. The site provides cutting-edge facilities for the design, development, manufacturing, assembly and operation of Championship-winning Formula One cars.

The facilities include a wind tunnel, dynos and the team’s driver-in-loop simulator as well as the production resources required to maintain season-long development of the race car. The team’s technology campus is one of the leading locations in the world when it comes to simulation, lightweight construction, additive manufacturing, generative design, machine learning and other pioneering technologies.

Brackley is also home to Mercedes-AMG F1 Applied Science, a business division of the team which provides bespoke engineering services combining world-class talent and high-performance culture with cutting-edge technical capability. Created to enable the diversification of the company to tackle new and exciting engineering challenges beyond Formula One, Applied Science has recently come together with Sir Ben Ainslie and INEOS to form INEOS Britannia, bringing together the best of the worlds of high-performance marine and automotive engineering, with the goal to win the America’s Cup for Britain.

The Brackley site holds the international environmental management system certification ISO 14001 and uses 100% renewable energy sources to power its operations. In 2020, the team’s headquarters was awarded Three Star Certification, the highest level in the FIA’s Environmental Accreditation programme. The team continually works to reduce our carbon footprint, aiming for a 20% reduction year on year, and offsets unavoidable CO2 emissions through gold-standard carbon offsetting.

More than 950 employees work 24 hours a day, seven days a week on the Brackley site. Facing fierce competition on and off the track from highly skilled opponents, the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team seeks the competitive advantage by embracing the highly demanding nature of its endeavour: the greater the challenge, the better.
