Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, commonly known as "The Swamp," is the home of the University of Florida Gators football team in Gainesville. Opened in 1930 as Florida Field with a seating capacity of 22,000, the stadium has undergone numerous expansions and renovations to accommodate growing fan support. As of 2025, it seats 88,548, making it the largest stadium in Florida and one of the largest in the United States. In 2023, the university embarked on a $400 million renovation project aimed at modernizing the fan experience while preserving the stadium's historic atmosphere. The project includes upgrades to concourses, seating, concessions, restrooms, and enhancements to video boards and sound systems. The renovation is being led by Crawford Architects in association with Gensler, with construction expected to be completed by the 2027 season . In addition to the stadium improvements, the Gators opened a new $85 million football practice facility in 2022 to provide state-of-the-art training amenities for the team.
Ben Hill Griffin Stadium is the largest stadium in Florida, the 12th largest stadium in the United States, and the 18th largest stadium in the world, as measured by its official seating capacity of 88,548 – though, it has often held over 90,000 for Florida's home football games.
