Description
Virtus.pro (commonly abbreviated to VP) is a Russian professional esports organization founded in 2003. The organization is one of the most accomplished organizations in Counter-Strike history, having won 2 Major championships among numerous other S-tier trophies. Virtus.pro has been based in Armenia since 2022.
Virtus.pro was founded in 2003 to compete in Counter-Strike. The Russian and Ukrainian team was helmed by Aleksey "LeX" Kolesnikov for 6 years until its disbandment in 2009 and featured players such as Danylo "Zeus" Teslenko, Ioann "Edward" Sukharjev, Mykhaljo "kane" Blagin and Konstantin "groove" Pikiner.
The organization was relaunched in 2011 and entered Global Offensive when it came out. In 2014, Virtus.pro signed the Golden Five, the most successful Polish team in history. Nicknamed "The Plow", it featured Filip "NEO" Kubski, Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas, Jarosław "pashaBiceps" Jarząbkowski, Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski, and Paweł "byali" Bieliński. With this acquistion, the organization won its first Major, EMS One Katowice 2014, and was the runner-up for ELEAGUE Atlanta 2017, among 9 other S-tier trophies, with their period of success spanning until 2017.
In 2019, Virtus.pro signed the Kazakh roster of AVANGAR, notably featuring Dzhami "Jame" Ali. The organization found success in the online COVID-19 landscape of 2020 with the acquisition of Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis. The team was notorious for its slow and methodical playstyle combined with YEKINDAR's aggressivity. From 2022 to 2023, the team was forced to compete under the tag Outsiders, due to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, and won the second Major for the organization, IEM Rio, under the tag.
