West played for Woodville-West Torrens in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) under-18s competition during the 2024 season. He was part of club's premiership-winning team, recording 17 disposals and kicking two goals in a four-point victory over Central District. He was selected by Collingwood with pick 50 in the 2024 AFL draft.

In his first ten matches for Collingwood's reserves team in the Victorian Football League (VFL), West kicked 24 goals, including a goal after the final siren to defeat Sandringham in round 13.
