His first full season at an international level was 2007. He then became 16th in the world championship in the MX2 class and Belgian champion in that class. In 2009 he won his first and only GP in this class, the GP of Catalonia that was held in Bellpuig . Van Horebeek rode in the MX2 class for KTM until 2013, except in 2010 when he rode for Kawasaki . His best result was third place in the final classification of the 2012 world championship, after his teammate Jeffrey Herlings (the Netherlands) and Tommy Searle (Great Britain).

In 2013, Van Horebeek made the switch to the MX1 class (from 2014 called the MXGP), the "royal class" in motocross . He rode this season with the Kawasaki Racing Team . He rode a great season, in which he managed to achieve some series podiums and finished in a good 7th place in the final classification. In 2014 he rode with the "Yamaha Factory Racing Team". On March 9, during the Thailand GP, Van Horebeek achieved his first ever podium in the MXGP. He rode to third place in both the qualifications on Saturday and in both series on Sunday. This also made him third in the daily classification behind Antonio Cairoli and Clément Desalle . In this season he also won his second GP victory, the first in this class. The GP of the Czech Republic was won in Loket . In 2014 he also achieved his best final classification, he was second behind the six-time world champion in this class, the Italian Cairoli.

In 2018, Van Horebeek left the "Yamaha Factory Racing Team" team and had no prospect of a further team. However, at the beginning of 2019, he announced that he would start in the MXGP class from 2019 with the French Team SR Honda Motoblouz.
