Kris Wright is an up-and-coming American racing driver who has experience in a sports car Prototype series (IMSA Prototype Challenge), two sports car sedan series (IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge and Pirelli World Challenge), and even two formula-car series (USF2000 and Pro Mazda) in the Mazda Road to Indy development program.

In addition to showcasing his versatility in these vastly different types of race cars, Wright has experience on virtually all of the most famous road courses in the United States, including Watkins Glen International in Watkins Glen, N.Y.; Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, Fla.; Road Atlanta in Braselton, Ga.; the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Salinas, Calif. He has also driven on the road courses of the two most-famous oval tracks in the United States: the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Daytona International Speedway.

In 2017 Wright’s primary focus was the IMSA Prototype Challenge series, where he finished second in the Mazda Prototype Challenge class. Showcasing his consistency, he had six second-place finishes in that series, and he scored his first professional racing victory in June in a Prototype Challenge race that supported the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen at Watkins Glen.

He made his first formula-car start in the USF2000 series at the beginning of 2017, but by June he had already advanced to the next level on the Mazda Road to Indy program, Pro Mazda. Once again he was a quick learner, posting four top-10 finishes and one top-five finish.

Wright competed in both a Porsche Cayman and a Kia Forte Koup race car in previous seasons, posting several top-five finishes and getting immense experience as he climbs the racing ladder.
