Nick Browne
is a retired English professional cricketer who spent his entire 12-year career at Essex County Cricket Club as an opening batter. As of April 2026, he serves as the Assistant Coach and Batting Lead for Essex Women, a role he was appointed to in December 2025 following his retirement at the end of the 2025 season.
He became the first player since Ravi Bopara in 2008 to score 1,000 runs in the County Championship season for Essex, when his 151* against Leicestershire in 2015 took him past the landmark.

He once again made 1,000 runs at a healthy average of 47, boosted by a career-best 255 against Derbyshire, one of two doubles he made against them that promotion season. Indeed, double centuries became something of a speciality – he made it three doubles in a row the following summer, this time against Middlesex at Chelmsford, joining Alastair Cook in an Essex record opening stand of 373.

The left-hander was integral part of the County Championship success in 2017, scoring over 1000 first-class runs again for the Club. He will hope his continued form in 2018 will lead him to the International recognition that is arguably deserved.
