Just a new thread to see what people are working on.

Personally I have plans to finish UCI cycling teams with all player artwork as my next project.

Someone mentioned to me that NRL rugby is looking a little dated, might also work on that in the future if nobody else beats me

EDIT: Also The recent bulk retired player imports need lots of info. Will work ad-hoc on those for Golf, boxing players etc.

Currently trying to update all unautomated team sports to the latest fixtures and adding past results if there's a gap.

Adding missing UFC fighters to the fight results for 1993-2012.
Making sure the Desc is past tense.
Adding venues/attendance.

Zag, would you be willing to try another CSV import for F1 results? Maybe add Quali to old races. Not sure if you have all the F1 drivers added.

Sure, but yes all the drivers need adding first

I have a dataset with 862 racers, 215 Constructors, and 1144 races. It seems to have a CSV for the drivers that has a driver ID, then the races use that unique driver ID for race results.

CSV headers for drivers
driverId,driverRef,number,code,forename,surname,dob,nationality,url
1,"hamilton",44,"HAM","Lewis","Hamilton","1985-01-07","British","https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lewis_Hamilton"

I could add birthplace, height, weight, status, team, and socials to it.

Results csv

I could use some python wizardry to replace all the placeholder with actual names and teams.

Can you provide me a the CSV headers you'd need just for the drivers?

I've actually just done a big motorsport driver import recently, can you check all drivers are somewhere here?

There are some there but a lot missing from the sampling I did.

That is the CSV with the Formula 1 drivers.

Working on driver import now....

EDIT: 850 former F1 drivers all imported. They will need artwork and details added to each but can now be used for result entry.

It doesn't look like I can automate the results this time, so people will have to add them I think.

I am going to edit the data.

What reference do I use for the drivers in the data base? How do I get each imported drivers tsbd id so I can match them in the database and make them import friendly?
Would a column for surename, forname, full name or just the id, be ok?

https://ibb.co/M5C4wy9X
That looks more friendly

I would need:
Full race name, Season, full drivers name, TheSportsDB team ID, finishing position, time

The data is nice but had no names so very hard to do anything with.

Is
eventID, Season, full drivers name, TheSportsDB team ID, finishing position, time work?
The event ID is static and the names vary.

Yeh I think that would be perfect. Especially with the event ID that would make it very easy.

What should we do about the missing events? 1970-1980 is incomplete on the site, and the csv goes back to 1950.

Also did you input the teams as well as the drivers? I can't match to any of the teams in the csv.

How is this?
I did not put the sprint data in. There are so few of them and are most likely done anyway.
Edit:
https://ibb.co/LDSwMVND
Cleaned up the times. Just need the teams to be added and should be an easy import.
https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/2hk5banbjlrq0kmbba490/tsdb_refined_times.csv?rlkey=f6yrkm9vuxieiqmevryirekcr&dl=0

Edit 2:
For the missing events I'll make a csv for events between 1950-1980 (skipping 1970,1978,1979) Season 1976 only has one race on the site.
I think this event import should be BEFORE the results.

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/bnkfppps1z1r833dasty4/missing_races_tracks.csv?rlkey=2fay8as953vtg8mykddwdv4fq&dl=0
(Looks like some venues are missing. Maybe import circuits.csv too)
Let me work on qualifying.

Do we have a list of missing teams? That's the first place to start. I will add manually.

EDIT: Hmm matching the teams is going to be difficult as they all have different sponsor names now. The ID would be really useful in that CSV.

Let's keep things simple and concentrate on the results first. We can always re-run it later when the older events are added.

I only see the current teams on the site. Any defunct teams, if added, are in a black hole.
The constructors.csv has all the team names.
https://www.kaggle.com/datasets/rohanrao/formula-1-world-championship-1950-2020/data?select=constructors.csv

You can kind of tell the team name changes by looking at the wiki links for each entry. There are 215 team names, but a lot less when you consider some are just name changes.

What about using the constructorRef as the team short name.
https://ibb.co/4nHJ8qJz
That way it won't interfere with sponsor names.

All the same team
Minardi -> Toro Rosso -> Alpha Tauri - > Visa Cash App RB F1 Team -> Racing Bulls
Toleman -> Benetton -> Renault -> Lotus Renault GP -> Lotus F1 Team -> Renault F1 Team -> BWT Alpine

It gets a little weird with the Privateer Teams.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Formula_One_constructors#Privateer_teams

Here is a chart of the team name changes
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1YcuDHkVnemCrw0tWe_kQ28r8f4fdKfwW/edit?gid=1251989152#gid=1251989152
(red lines indicate team name changes)

Would teams by year be better?

I'm still working on NFL, it feels never-ending....

Currently trying to add all the current safety and cornerbacks, so I can import some statistics for the players I found. But there are 500+ of them!! Crazy but still fun
