zag Posts: 3,848 Joined: 2020 | For anyone interested in the workflow I've been using (and to remind myself in the future): Wikidata SPARQL query filtering by the general sports association or website that has unique ID's for players. https://w.wiki/D9u2 Download into CSV format Run through an import I specifically wrote for that data structure. Then I grab the Creative commons images URLs separately Run another import to locally download those images and update URL on here. Using FastStone Image Viewer to auto crop and resize the images to 700 pixel resolution. Save images and they should now be square aspect ratio. https://www.faststone.org/ Its a longwinded process but actually already imported 5,000 new sports people this way. | ||

zag Posts: 3,848 Joined: 2020 | 7,000+ former and current baseball players imported. Also managed to import the artwork from wikidata as well. Required some fun and games to crop the images at the top but got there in the end. I found IrfanView has a nice GUI batch crop feature that works very well for this when images are tall. zag Posts: 3,848 Joined: 2020 | I've managed to import another 11,000 former baseball players with 7,000 creative commons artworks also. This allows me to match up historical player stats so I think we have virtually all MLB players going back to 1995 now. https://www.thesportsdb.com/team/135359-_retired-baseball | ||
