New design for thumbs

Hi!

As I was unhappy with my previous thumb design for motorsport events, I have design a new one for Formula 1 and I'll update the existing ones for the new one. Here you can see some examples:

Special thumbs for qualifyings

PS: As you can see, each race will have a different image as identifier. Each displayed photo is related to the 2019 race held on that grand prix, but as there's no mention of related year/season, could be used for all seasons without problem

Once updated the F1 ones and if you like the design, I'll do the same for other motorsports leagues

They look great to me, I think maybe you shouldn't use them for every year of F1 though as the styling is very modern and I don't think it would fit well with anything pre-2010 looking at the TV graphic designs over the years.

Stunning! Love the font

Feel free to replace any of my old uploads, I love the standard design.

Yes, you're right. At the moment only updated from 2016 up to 2020 season

Sweet! Is there some way you could share the source of these images? Are they PSD?

Yes, they are PSD. Which one do you need? Currently designed different versions for the next leagues:

Golf:
PGA Tour

Here you can see some of the uploaded ones: https://www.thesportsdb.com/events_main.php?s=Golf

...and more to come!

I was thinking any source, no rush, was just thinking others could help out making them from the templates.

Another thing I was thinking was to maybe put a small thesportsdb logo on them somewhere so people know where they come from. I'm in 2 minds about that though as I like the clean look as they are.

Sure! Glad you liked my design! Do you want/need the original PSD file? If you want, I can share it with you ;P

Also loved your adaptation for posters and banners, but maybe for posters I would remove the TV logo in order to be used for any country

cheers Ovokx, have changed the tv graphic for the course name, think it looks OK.
I use Gimp for images, not sure about PSD fiiles, if they work with Gimp that would be great.

Gimp & Photoshop aren't very good friends...

Vector shape layers aren't supported (my PSD has) and text layers in PSDs won't be editable in Gimp

Once populated the new design for motorsport & golf events, now it's time for the first team vs team sport: basketball

Which one do you like most?

They look fantastic!

Can you post the source again so I can upload somewhere. I might put them on GitHub

Which one from the two versions do you prefer to be used as standard here?

I prefer the 1st one personally. But both look equally as good

EDIT: in fact I probably like the 2nd one better now I look at it... hehe

hehe, OK!

I'll fully add all the layers/badges for all teams and start to update current leagues using the 2nd design!

Are you going to do it all manually?

I've learned a way to batch process images in Photoshop using variables and a CSV file that has made life a lot easier when updating tournaments. It would make it a lot easier if you were to do every fixture in the NBA for instance.

I'm also working on a feature that will store any event thumb for auto future use.

The backend is already done, just trying to work out how the front end bit will work.

A guide to that might be very useful. I didn't realise Photoshop could be so powerful.

I'll try my best to come up with a guide, I'll use a smaller league for an example.
