Ali Carter's four-frame burst saw Jack Lisowski become the fourth seed to lose in the World Championship first round. The two-time Crucible runner-up led 5-4 overnight and raced 9-4 ahead before seeing out a 10-6 victory.

A spirited fightback by Mark Allen proved in vain as he was beaten 10-7 by China's Zhou Yuelong to become the third seed to lose in the first round of this year's World Championship. The Northern Irishman, the world number six, was below par as he trailed 7-2 overnight and quickly fell 9-2 behind.
Allen rattled off five frames as Zhou's previously solid form began to crumble with the winning line in sight. But the world number 35 edged a scrappy frame 17 to progress.

New World Championship favourite Judd Trump has played down his title chances and says he is yet to find his best form at the sport's showpiece event. The world number seven scraped into round two with a 10-9 win over Thepchaiya Un-Nooh to set up a last-16 tie with Ding Junhui.

World number eight Kyren Wilson was the last man to make round two, but was not at his fluent best despite completing a 10-4 win over Scott Donaldson. Wilson led the Scottish qualifier and Crucible debutant Scott Donaldson 6-2 overnight and the pair shared four scrappy games to make it 8-4.
However, the Kettering man hit three half-century breaks in the final two frames to tee up a second-round meeting with Barry Hawkins.

The world number nine thrashed China's Li Hang 10-1 on Wednesday to set up a World Championship second-round meeting with Kyren Wilson on Sunday.
The 2013 runner-up has reached at least the semi-final in five of the past six years.
