Description

The British motorcycle Grand Prix is a motorcycling event that is part of the Grand Prix motorcycle racing season.
Silverstone's first motorcycle Grand Prix event was held in 1977, and also happened to the first to be held on the British mainland. Prior to 1977, the British round of the World Championship had been held since 1949 on the Isle of Man TT circuit. From 1988 to 2009 the World Championship racing moved to Donington Park, but returned to Silverstone in 2010 after the 23 years break.
The UK has produced some of the best riders in the history of the World Championship. From Mike Hailwood and John Surtees to Phil Read and the legendary Barry Sheene.

Result Description
For the first time since 1980 at the Salzburgring, MotoGP™ organisers were forced to cancel a Grand Prix.
After lengthy delays, the decision was finally made to cancel the 2018 GoPro British Grand Prix at Silverstone with the heavy rain failing to drain from the track surface, with the premier class riders and Race Direction deeming it unsafe for any races to take place on Sunday.
