Description
The Aragon motorcycle Grand Prix is a motorcycling event that is part of the Grand Prix motorcycle racing calendar. Its first edition was held in 2010 to replace the Hungarian Grand Prix.
A state-of-the-art venue, the MotorLand Aragon road racing circuit was opened in 2009, to continue the rich local heritage of racing which had seen years of exciting street races in nearby Alcañiz, a town that hosted racing events between 1963 and 2003.
This is a country which is passionate about motorcycle racing, having produced some great champions down the years including Angel Nieto, Sito Pons, Alex Criville, Dani Pedrosa, Jorge Lorenzo and Marc Marquez.

The 2018 Aragon motorcycle Grand Prix was the fourteenth round of the 2018 MotoGP season. It was held at the Ciudad del Motor de Aragón in Alcañiz on 23 September 2018.

Marc Márquez now has a 72-point lead atop the MotoGP standings after battling past Andrea Dovizioso and Andrea Iannone to secure first place in Spain, where Jorge Lorenzo also suffered a heavy crash. A superb pole position effort soon became a distant memory for Lorenzo as, under pressure from Márquez, the Ducati rider tried in vain to keep up with the Honda and suffered a spectacular crash just a couple of hundred metres into the race.
Fresh from having a corner at the MotorLand circuit named after him, a Marc Márquez masterclass won the day as he overhauled the superior power of the Ducati as well as dismiss the challenge from the Suzuki pair of Rins and Iannone.
Márquez could have settled for second and banked the points in his quest for his fifth MotoGP crown. But he showed again that a cautious approach isn't his thing as he looked after his tyres and outsmarted Dovizioso to win in style.
