Description Apart from the Nürburgring, the Hockenheimring is the most tradition-rich German racetrack and staged its first events back in 1932. Since the DTM debut season, back in 1984, Hockenheim has been a constant on the DTM calendar, with the 1985 season representing the only exception. The circuit traditionally stages the DTM season finale. When the fireworks are started while the cars cross the finish line, the final points in the battle for the titles have been scored. Since the DTM revival in 2000, the Mercedes-Benz camp proved to be the strongest in the season finale by winning 10 of the 22 races contested to date. In the recent past, however - or more precisely since 2012 - they had to leave the season finale empty-handed as BMW and Audio respectively got the upper hand.
