The National League secured a thrilling victory over the American League in an unprecedented conclusion to the Midsummer Classic. After grinding to a tie at the end of regulation play, the game was decided by a unique home run swing-off tiebreaker for the first time in baseball history. Philadelphia Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber emerged as the ultimate hero, launching three consecutive deep drives out of the park during his swings to lift the National League to victory and secure most valuable player honors. Early on, the National League established a commanding lead driven by a majestic three-run home run from Pete Alonso and a solo blast by Corbin Carroll.
