Audrey Werro confirmed her status as the outstanding 800 metres runner of the European season by winning gold in a championship-record 1:54.81. The Swiss athlete took control early and resisted a determined home-straight challenge from Keely Hodgkinson, who finished just 0.20 seconds behind in 1:55.01, while Femke Broeders-Bol secured bronze in 1:55.54, equalling the Dutch national record in a superbly fast final.
