Roczen’s objective of an early break was achieved when he overtook Jorge Prado on the third lap. From there, the Suzuki rider was unchallenged, maintaining a consistent pace while chaos unfolded behind him. The defining moment of the race occurred on lap 11 when Hunter Lawrence, while running in a strong third place, suffered a catastrophic crash in the whoops. The incident damaged his front brake and forced him to a halt, eventually resulting in an 18th-place finish and the loss of the red plate.
