The second round at the Fairway Golf & Lake Resort in Naya Raipur serves as the critical 36-hole cut day for the PGTI’s season-opening event. The primary challenge for the field is maintaining the aggressive scoring pace established in the opening round, as the technical, water-heavy layout continues to reward precision while penalizing any lapse in focus. The objective for the competitors is to navigate the lush parkland fairways and fast greens to finish within the top 50 and ties, ensuring their advancement to the weekend and a share of the INR 1.5 Crore purse.

Strategically, the second round is a test of consistency and nerve. The goal for the leaders is to capitalize on the calmer morning conditions to extend their advantage before the afternoon heat and potential winds off the Jhanjh Lake make club selection more difficult. The tactical focus for those near the cut line is to manage the risk-reward par-5s, which offer vital birdie opportunities but are guarded by strategic bunkering and water hazards. With the Order of Merit race just beginning, the ultimate goal for the field is to post a steady score and remain in contention for the first title of the 2026 season.

Result Description
Akshay Sharma maintained his relentless form at the SECL Chhattisgarh Open, following up his opening course record with a second consecutive bogey-free 9-under-par 60. Sharma’s objective of total dominance was on full display as he reached a staggering 18-under-par 120 total at the halfway stage. His clinical iron play and flawless putting at Fairway Golf & Lake Resort allowed him to keep his card clean for 36 holes, effectively moving into a three-shot lead and setting a blistering pace for the field.

The chase for the lead is led by Honey Baisoya and Anshul Kabthiyal, who both surged into joint second place at 15-under-par. Both players delivered exceptional 8-under-par 61s to keep themselves within striking distance of the runaway leader. Further down the leaderboard, American Jhared Hack began to make his move, sitting in a strong position as the top international contender. The cut fell at a competitive 4-under-par, as the benign conditions and high-quality field ensured that only the most consistent performers would advance to the weekend rounds in Naya Raipur.
