The 2026 Asian Development Tour (ADT) season continues with the Nam A Bank Vietnam Masters at the spectacular Royal Long An Golf & Villas in Long An province. This Nick Faldo-designed course presents a unique challenge with its expansive lagoons and indigenous-inspired layout, requiring players to balance aggression with careful navigation of the natural ecosystems. The primary objective for the 138-player field is to master the "deceptive" winds of the Mekong Delta to gain an early foothold in the race for the US$100,000 prize fund.

Strategically, the opening round is a test of precision into the greens, which are protected by strategically placed water hazards and bunkers. The goal for the field is to capitalize on the early morning relative calm before the tropical heat and coastal breezes intensify in the afternoon. The tactical focus for favorites such as Jazz Janewattananond and Khavish Varadan is to find the correct landing areas on the wide fairways to ensure clear approach angles into the undulating surfaces. With a high-stakes ADT title on the line, the objective for the starters is to post a sub-par round to stay within striking distance of the lead before the 36-hole cut.

Result Description
Jonathan Wijono (INA) seized the momentum on the opening day, carding a clinical 7-under-par 65 to claim a one-stroke lead at Royal Long An. Wijono’s objective of early scoring was met through an exceptional display of iron play, recording seven birdies in a bogey-free performance. His ability to navigate the Faldo-designed hazards allowed him to set a high bar for the afternoon wave as the temperatures climbed.

The chasing pack is led by Thailand’s Jazz Janewattananond, who posted a solid 6-under-par 66 to sit in solo second. Jazz, a multiple Asian Tour winner, utilized his vast experience to stay in the hunt with a late birdie on the par-5 18th. He is followed closely by a group of players at 5-under-par, including Canada's Henry Lee and India’s Aman Raj. Local interests were bolstered by a strong start from Nguyen Nhat Long, who carded a 68 (-4) to remain the top Vietnamese professional after 18 holes. The day was defined by the course's receptivity in the morning, though the firming greens in the afternoon began to penalize any lack of distance control.
