The fourth round of the SMX Next season arrives at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Alabama, as the premier development class for the SuperMotocross World Championship. The primary challenge for these amateur prospects is the transition to a full-scale professional track layout, which includes the same technical whoops and split-lane sections as the 450SX class. For the field of A and B classified riders, the objective is to secure critical points toward their professional Supercross licenses and prove their readiness for the jump to the 250SX ranks.

Strategically, this round is defined by the quest for consistency in a season that has already seen three different winners in three races. Vincent Wey, the son of Supercross veteran Nick Wey, enters the event with the goal of translating his "exceptional parity" into a breakout victory. Meanwhile, Kade Johnson and Ryder Malinoski face the objective of managing the soft, rutted Alabama soil, which historically punishes riders who over-rotate in the technical rhythm sections. With the Main Event shortened to an 8-minute plus one lap sprint, the tactical priority is securing a clean start to avoid the mid-pack turbulence of the 22-rider gate.

Result Description
Vincent Wey became the fourth different winner in four rounds of the SMX Next season, delivering a masterclass in consistency at Protective Stadium. Riding for Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green, Wey grabbed a strong start and methodically pulled away from the field, hitting his marks lap after lap to secure his first career victory in the development division. Wey described the win as the "sickest race of his life," noting the long hours of training with his father that led to this milestone.

The race was a banner session for the Kawasaki development program, as Kade Johnson followed Wey across the line to complete a 1-2 sweep for Team Green. Johnson faced early pressure from Jeremy Fappani, but Fappani eventually slipped out of a podium position in the closing stages. This allowed ClubMX Yamaha’s Ryder Malinoski to capitalize and round out the podium in third. Behind the lead trio, Jeremy Fappani settled for fourth, while Deacon Denno recovered from a mid-pack start to complete the top five. The result further tightens the SMX Next standings as the series heads toward the national championship finale in Philadelphia.
