Description

The second heat of the 250SX East class at Daytona is arguably the "Group of Death," featuring a collection of the championship's most aggressive starters and technical specialists. Drew Adams proved that his qualifying speed was the real deal, taking a hard-fought victory in the second 250SX Heat of the night. The race began with a textbook holeshot from Daxton Bennick, but Adams wasted no time, snatching the lead away within the first few sections. The rookie looked composed at the front, navigating the deep Daytona sand with the poise of a veteran.

Behind him, a frantic battle unfolded for the remaining podium spots. Jo Shimoda and Seth Hammaker quickly moved past Bennick into second and third, engaging in a bar-to-bar duel that lasted for several laps. Hammaker eventually gained the upper hand, slipping past Shimoda to take over second and began closing the 1.8-second gap to his teammate, Adams. However, disaster struck for Hammaker on the final lap; while pushing to catch Adams, he suffered a small tip-over in the final corner. This mistake allowed Shimoda to reclaim second place, while Hammaker remounted quickly to finish third. Bennick held on for a lonely fourth, while Cullin Park put in a strong late-race charge to round out the top five.
