Elise Chabbey (FDJ-SUEZ) claimed a career-defining victory at the 2026 Strade Bianche Donne, emerging from a chaotic and dramatic finale to become the first Swiss woman to win the event. The race took a shocking turn when a group of favorites, including Demi Vollering and Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, were led off course by a race motorbike, effectively ending their chances. This paved the way for a tactical masterclass by Chabbey, who remained focused despite the confusion to join an elite lead group of eight riders in the final kilometers.
The race was decided on the steep stones of Via Santa Caterina and the technical corners leading into the finish. As Elisa Longo Borghini and Katarzyna Niewiadoma jostled for position at the head of the race, Chabbey seized a momentary gap in the final 200 meters. She dived up the inside of a three-wide corner to overtake her rivals and sprinted across the line in 3:35:42.
