The final stage of the 2026 Women's Tour Down Under is a high-stakes 126.5-kilometer race from Norwood to Campbelltown. The strategic narrative centers on the double ascent of Corkscrew Road—a brutal 2.5-kilometer climb with an average gradient of 9% and ramps hitting 12%. Positioned in the final 25 kilometers, the Corkscrew is designed to shatter the peloton and serve as the ultimate launchpad for general classification attacks. With the final summit just five kilometers from the finish line, the race will likely be decided by a daring solo move or a small-group sprint after a technical high-speed descent into Campbelltown.

The headline story is the defense of the Ochre Jersey by Ally Wollaston (FDJ-SUEZ), who holds a 14-second lead after her dominant back-to-back stage wins. Strategically, Wollaston faces a monumental challenge: she must survive the pure climbers' attacks on the steep gradients of the Corkscrew. Noemi Rüegg (EF Education–Oatly), the defending champion, sits in a prime position to strike, supported by a powerful squad including World Champion Magdeleine Vallieres. All eyes are also on the tactical numerical advantage of UAE Team ADQ, with Mavi García and Paula Blasi expected to use a "pincer" strategy to isolate the leader.

Result Description
Noemi Rüegg (EF Education–Oatly) delivered a tactical masterclass to win both the final stage and the overall title of the 2026 Tour Down Under. In a dramatic "1v3" finale, the Swiss rider found herself isolated against three UAE Team ADQ riders—Mavi García, Paula Blasi, and Dominika Włodarczyk—who had successfully gapped the rest of the field on the final ascent of Corkscrew Road. Despite relentless attacks from the trio on the descent and the flat run-in to Campbelltown, Rüegg refused to crack, covering every move with clinical precision. In the final four-rider sprint, she proved untouchable, powering across the line in 3:24:02 to secure her second consecutive overall victory.

The stage marked the end of Ally Wollaston’s dream run; the race leader was dropped on the first ascent of the Corkscrew as the pace reached a blistering level, eventually finishing over seven minutes back. While UAE Team ADQ dominated the podium with García and Blasi taking second and third overall, the day was defined by the tactical failure of the trio to drop Rüegg before the sprint. Paula Blasi took home the Queen of the Mountains jersey for her efforts on the climbs, while Wollaston managed to retain the points classification on countback. Rüegg's back-to-back victory cements her status as the queen of the Australian summer, equaling Amanda Spratt’s record of consecutive titles.
