Result Description
The opening round concluded with Declan O'Donovan and John Lyras sharing the lead after both carded impressive rounds of 5-under par (67). The strategic narrative of the day was defined by resilience; O'Donovan produced a significant bounce-back performance to climb the leaderboard, while Lyras, returning from a five-month injury layoff, utilized a surgical approach to the greens to remain bogey-free for much of the day. The primary hurdle remained the par-3 17th, which gave up only three birdies to the entire field, playing at a scoring average of 3.36 strokes.

Following closely in a tie for third are Will Florimo and New Zealander Cameron Harlock, who both posted 4-under par (68). Harlock’s tactical highlight was being one of the few players to conquer the 17th, recording a rare birdie on the demanding long par-3. Tactically, the morning wave took advantage of the softer conditions, whereas the afternoon starters struggled as the wind picked up and the greens firmed. Order of Merit leader Travis Smyth finished the day with an even-par 72, leaving him five shots back and with work to do to catch the aggressive early pace-setters.
