Australia's Matias Sanchez mastered the shifting conditions at Millbrook Resort to claim the clubhouse lead after a rain-affected opening round. Following an overnight soaking that delayed the start of play by three hours, Sanchez carded a bogey-free 7-under-par 64 on the Remarkables course, finding his rhythm late in the day as the winds subsided. He holds a one-stroke advantage over a group of pursuers that includes the highest-ranked local favorite, Daniel Hillier, and American debutant Kevin Na, who both finished with solid 5-under-par rounds.
