The 119th Visa Argentina Open presented by Macro marks a historic week as the Korn Ferry Tour returns to the iconic Jockey Club in Buenos Aires. As one of the oldest national opens in the world, the stakes are elevated this year: the champion will earn a direct exemption into The 154th Open at Royal Birkdale. The Alister MacKenzie-designed course, known for its strategic bunkering and fast, undulating greens, provides a unique test compared to the typical power-friendly layouts often found on tour. The field is a mix of rising international stars and seasoned veterans, all looking to follow in the footsteps of defending champion Justin Suh. Local hero Augusto Núñez and a strong contingent of Argentine players will be the focus of the passionate Buenos Aires galleries as they aim to keep the trophy on home soil.

Result Description
The opening round of the 119th edition delivered immediate fireworks, concluding with a massive six-way tie for the lead at 7-under-par 63. Mason Andersen and Alistair Docherty led the charge with clean, bogey-free scorecards, while Matthew Anderson, Carson Bacha, Hunter Eichhorn, and Carl Yuan joined them at the summit. Bacha and Matthew Anderson both kickstarted their rounds with eagles at the par-5 10th, while Docherty provided the highlight of the day by holing out for an eagle-two on the par-4 18th to cap off his round.

The scoring was exceptionally low across the field, with the par-5 15th playing nearly a stroke under par and yielding 30 eagles throughout the day. While the Americans dominated the top of the leaderboard, international players like Germany's Jeremy Paul (67) and local favorite Jorge Fernández-Valdés (68) remain within striking distance. Defending champion Justin Suh had a steady start with an even-par 70, sitting seven shots back but well-positioned to make a move as the Jockey Club’s greens firm up for the second round.
