The Supercars Championship returns to the world-renowned Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit for the Melbourne SuperSprint, acting as the premier support act for the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix. Race 4, the first of the weekend’s sprint sessions, is set to be a high-intensity 19-lap dash. Unlike the endurance rounds, there is no mandated pit stop, meaning the start and the opening lap through the high-speed Turn 9-10 chicane will be absolutely critical.
Reigning Bathurst champion Brodie Kostecki enters the weekend with a point to prove after a challenging season opener in Sydney. He faces a formidable task against the Red Bull Ampol Racing duo of Broc Feeney and Will Brown, who have traditionally excelled on the fast, flowing nature of this street circuit. With the track freshly rubbered in by F1 machinery, the grip levels will be at their peak, allowing for aggressive late-braking maneuvers into the Turn 1 and Turn 3 hairpins.

Brodie Kostecki produced a heroic performance to win Race 4 of the 2026 season, overcoming a mid-race bout of illness to take his first victory of the year. Starting from pole position, Kostecki secured a brilliant jump and maintained his composure through a mid-race Safety Car period triggered by Jackson Walls, who spun into the gravel trap at Turn 11. Despite the pressure and feeling physically unwell, Kostecki controlled the restart and fended off a late charge to give Ford its first Supercars win at Albert Park since 2019.
The podium was a battle of the young guns, with Matthew Payne finishing second to seize the championship lead. Payne executed a clinical move on Broc Feeney early in the race to secure the runner-up spot, while Feeney held on for a solid third-place finish. Behind them, James Golding and Chaz Mostert rounded out the top five after a race filled with mid-pack carnage, including spins for Kai Allen and Aaron Cameron. Kostecki’s victory marks a massive turnaround for the Shell V-Power Racing Team, setting a strong tone for the remainder of the Melbourne weekend.
