The Men’s 1500 metres at the Meeting Hauts-de-France Pas-de-Calais was one of the headline races of the European indoor circuit, staged on the fast track at Liévin. Traditionally a key stop in the World Athletics Indoor Tour, the meeting regularly attracts world-class middle-distance athletes targeting fast times and early-season benchmarks.

The 2025 edition drew particular attention due to the presence of several elite European and global contenders, with the race expected to be run at a strong, record-oriented tempo. The compact indoor track and experienced pacemaking typical of Liévin made it an ideal setting for a high-quality 1500 metres.

Among the leading names, Jakob Ingebrigtsen entered as the clear favourite, using the race as part of his early-season build-up and continuing his tradition of targeting fast indoor performances in northern France. The supporting field included strong European specialists capable of pushing the pace and capitalising if the race became tactical.

Result Description
The race unfolded at a consistently fast tempo from the opening laps, with the pacemaker setting an aggressive rhythm that quickly stretched the field. The lead group remained compact through the early stages, but the pace began to take its toll as the race moved beyond halfway.

As the pacemaker stepped aside, Jakob Ingebrigtsen smoothly moved to the front and began to assert control. Maintaining an even, powerful cadence, he gradually increased the tempo, forcing separation from the rest of the field. By the bell, he had established a clear advantage and never looked under threat.

Ingebrigtsen closed strongly over the final lap to secure victory in a world-class time, continuing his dominance of the indoor circuit. Behind him, the battle for the remaining podium places was closely contested, with several athletes recording season’s bests or personal indoor bests in a fast, high-quality race.

The Men’s 1500 metres at the Meeting Hauts-de-France once again underlined the meet’s reputation as one of the fastest and most competitive indoor fixtures in the world, providing an ideal stage for elite middle-distance racing early in the season.
