The inaugural co-sanctioned LPGA Aramco Championship kicks off at the exclusive Shadow Creek Golf Course in North Las Vegas. The primary challenge for the elite field—which includes 24 of the top 25 in the Rolex Rankings—is the course’s uncompromising layout, known for its rapid greens and penalizing water hazards. The objective for the early starters is to post a score before the desert heat and potential afternoon gusts increase the difficulty of the par-72 course.

Strategically, the first round is about identifying the correct tiers on the undulating greens. The objective for the players is to capitalize on the four reachable par-5s, particularly the 18th, which serves as a critical scoring hole. The goal for world-class contenders like Jeeno Thitikul and Nelly Korda is to avoid the "big number" while adjusting to the unique desert conditions. With a $4,000,000 purse on the line, the tactical focus is on distance control and precision off the tee to ensure clear angles into the tucked pin positions.

Result Description
Lauren Coughlin (USA), Miyu Yamashita (JPN), and Nasa Hataoka (JPN) surged to the top of the leaderboard in the opening round, each carding an impressive 5-under-par 67. Coughlin, who finished runner-up at this venue in 2025, utilized her extensive course knowledge to navigate the morning conditions with six birdies and just one bogey. Yamashita, the reigning Women’s British Open champion, highlighted her round with a spectacular eagle on the par-5 18th to join the lead.

The chasing pack is led by World No. 2 Nelly Korda and Jing Yan, who both shot 4-under-par 68. Korda's round featured an eagle on her final hole (the 18th), providing a late spark to move her within one stroke of the lead. Hyo Joo Kim, seeking her third consecutive LPGA victory, also sits at 4-under after a steady performance. Meanwhile, Charley Hull and Leona Maguire remain firmly in the mix at 2-under-par, while World No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul opened with an even-par 72, staying within striking distance as the tournament heads into the second round.
