The 2026 WorldSBK season-opener concludes at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit with a high-stakes finale. After a weekend defined by speed and technical mastery, the field faces its most unpredictable challenge yet as rain clouds gather over the Bass Strait. With the track expected to be saturated, the focus shifts from pure horsepower to mechanical grip and rider finesse. For the front-runners, it is an opportunity to cement a perfect start to the year; for those who struggled in the dry, the wet conditions offer a "great equalizer" and a chance to salvage critical championship points before the series heads to Europe.

Nicolo Bulega delivered a wet-weather masterclass to win Race 2, completing a historic clean sweep of the Australian round. The Aruba.it Racing – Ducati rider proved untouchable in the challenging conditions, navigating the standing water with precision to finish more than 11 seconds ahead of the field. The victory marks Bulega's 23rd career win, making him the most successful Italian rider in WorldSBK history as he surpasses the tallies of Marco Melandri and Max Biaggi.
The race was defined by high drama and attrition. Axel Bassani secured a brilliant second place, giving the new Bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team its second podium of the day. Bassani benefited from a late-race mistake by Yari Montella, who suffered an off-throttle high-side at Lukey Heights while running in a podium position. Montella’s misfortune also promoted former champion Alvaro Bautista to third, allowing the Spaniard to salvage a rostrum finish for the Barni Spark Racing Team after a difficult opening to his weekend.
