Description

The pressure reaches its peak at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit as the WorldSBK field enters the Tissot Superpole. This high-intensity qualifying session determines the starting grid for the opening race of the season, where a single flying lap can make or break a rider's weekend. With the legendary Phillip Island curves demanding perfect rhythm and the coastal winds providing an ever-changing challenge, the riders must find the limit of their machinery without crossing it. The session is expected to be a showdown between the dominant Ducatis and the rapidly improving Bimota and Kawasaki squads, all fighting for the honor of the first pole position of the new era.

Result Description

Nicolo Bulega continued his absolute mastery of the Australian round, storming to the first pole position of the season with a record-shattering performance. The Aruba.it Racing – Ducati rider left the field in his wake, clocking a staggering 1:28.244. Bulega’s time was more than four-tenths of a second clear of his nearest rival, ensuring he has led every timed session since the paddock arrived in Australia.

The battle for the remaining front-row spots was a purely Italian-British affair. Yari Montella delivered a standout performance for the Barni Spark Racing Team, claiming second place with a 1:28.663. He was joined on the front row by Sam Lowes, who completed a Ducati lockout of the top three positions. Lowes overcame a difficult morning to find his rhythm when it mattered most, finishing just 0.066s behind Montella.
