Melissa Jefferson-Wooden stormed to victory in 21.68 seconds, the fastest time in the world this year, securing the sprint double and her first world 200m crown. Amy Hunt ran a strong bend and finished well to take silver in 22.14, her first individual World Championships medal. Shericka Jackson, chasing hard down the straight, claimed bronze in 22.18. Anavia Battle of the USA placed fourth in 22.22, with Dina Asher-Smith fifth in 22.43. Anthonique Strachan of the Bahamas was disqualified for a false start. Jefferson-Wooden’s win capped an outstanding championships for the American sprinter.
