Three-time Olympic champion Faith Kipyegon entered the Prefontaine Classic’s 50th edition as the heavy favourite, aiming to break her own world record in the women’s 1500 m. She faced competition from Olympic medallist Diribe Welteji (Ethiopia) and Jessica Hull (Australia), a former Duck running on home soil. Kipyegon’s undefeated streak in the 1500 m since June 2021 and her previous meet record of 3:50.72 made her a strong contender for another record-breaking run.
