Description The women’s 5000 m title at the 50th Prefontaine Classic was one of the most anticipated races of the meeting. Kenya’s Beatrice Chebet, fresh off running an all-time best 14:03.69 in Rome, entered as the clear favourite. She lined up against strong rivals including fellow Kenyan Agnes Jebet Ngetich and Ethiopian Gudaf Tsegay, aiming to break the long-standing world record of 14:00.21.

Result Description Beatrice Chebet delivered a historic performance, becoming the first woman ever to break 14 minutes in the 5000 m with a time of 13:58.06, shattering the previous world record by over two seconds. She dominated the race from start to finish and powered away in the final 200 m.
Agnes Jebet Ngetich followed in second, clocking 14:01.29, the third-fastest time ever, while Gudaf Tsegay claimed third in 14:04.41.
