The second night of the inaugural Grand Slam Track event in Kingston brought together top sprinters competing for the $100,000 jackpot. Spotlight fell on the men’s 200 metres final, where Olympic silver medalist Kenny Bednarek took center stage. Coming off a razor-thin 100 m win a day earlier, Bednarek faced stiff challenge from British sprinter Zharnel Hughes, American Fred Kerley, and Jamaica’s Oblique Seville—all hoping to catch fire on home soil. The coveted double (100 m & 200 m sweep) was on the line.

Result Description
Bednarek delivered with authority, clocking 20.07 seconds to claim the 200 m title and complete the historic short sprints double at Kingston. His powerful run extended his grip on the “short sprints” category, securing all 24 points and the full $100,000 prize.

Behind him, Zharnel Hughes finished second in 20.37, earning 14 points and $50,000, while Fred Kerley placed third in 20.39 (8 points, $30K). Oblique Seville, the local favorite, took fifth with 20.43, ranking third overall in the sprint group.

Bednarek’s dominance confirmed his elite status—after running 10.07 for the 100 m, he backed it up flawlessly in the 200 m. His evening reflected both consistency and top-tier sprinting prowess on a global stage.
