Description

The 2024 Betfred World Matchplay final takes place on Sunday evening, as Luke Humphries and Michael van Gerwen battle it out for the coveted Phil Taylor Trophy.
Sunday's showpiece at Blackpool's Winter Gardens will see the world's top two collide in a World Matchplay final for just the fourth time in 31 years, with Van Gerwen eyeing a fourth title at the Empress Ballroom.
Humphries, meanwhile, is featuring in his maiden World Matchplay final, as he bids to become just the second reigning World Champion to triumph in Blackpool.

Result Description

Luke Humphries celebrated a maiden Betfred World Matchplay title with a thrilling 18-15 victory over Michael van Gerwen at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens on Sunday.
Humphries led for much of the contest, but he was forced to fend off a valiant fightback from Van Gerwen on his way to lifting the coveted Phil Taylor Trophy at the Empress Ballroom.
The world number one had won his last seven meetings against the Dutchman, and he extended that remarkable record to clinch his fifth televised ranking title in the space of nine months.
