Description

The Tradition (known as the Regions Tradition for sponsorship reasons) is an event on the PGA Tour Champions tour. First staged 32 years ago in 1989, the PGA Tour recognizes the event as one of the five senior major golf championships. Unlike the U.S. Senior Open, Senior PGA Championship and Senior Open Championship, it is not recognized as a major by the European Senior Tour, and is not part of that tour's official schedule. It is the only senior major where the winner does not earn an exemption into a PGA Tour or European Tour event.
The event takes place May 06-09 and has a prize fund of $2,500,000 .

Cejka won the Regions Tradition on Sunday in only his third PGA TOUR Champions start, beating defending champion Steve Stricker with a birdie on the first hole of a playoff to earn a full exemption for the next two seasons.
The 50-year-old Cejka made a 10-foot birdie putt on No. 18 and Stricker missed an 8-footer with a chance to extend the playoff at Greystone Golf & Country Club.
