Description
Clube de Regatas Brasil, better known as CRB, is a Brazilian sports club from the city of Maceió, Alagoas, founded on September 20, 1912. Because it was founded in the coastal neighborhood of Pajuçara and has the Galo de Campina as its mascot, CRB is known in Alagoas as Galo da Praia. CRB's fan base is among the largest in Alagoas. Its administrative headquarters are located in the neighborhood of Jaraguá and its new CT (Training Center) is in the coastal city of Barra de São Miguel.
Although football is its main activity, CRB also stands out in the practice of volleyball, with absolute hegemony in the women's and men's scenarios, having achieved the greatest feat in 1969, when it was crowned South American women's champion in Santiago, Chile. The club also has titles in other sports, such as basketball, futsal, handball, among other sports.
Clube de Regatas Brasil was the first Alagoas state champion in 1927 and the first to celebrate a title in the year the Rei Pelé stadium opened. CRB competed in the Brazilian Championship for the first time in 1962 and was the first Alagoas club to compete in the second division of the competition in 1971. It was also the first Alagoas club to win four state championships (between 1937 and 1940). The club boasts the all-time leading scorer in the history of Alagoas state championships: Joãozinho Paulista, who wore the red and white jersey in the 1980s and scored 160 goals for Galo. The record for goals in a single championship also belongs to CRB: in 1995, player Inha scored 37 goals for the club in the competition.
