The Supercopa Rei, formerly known as the Supercopa do Brasil, is a football competition played annually between the current champions of the Campeonato Brasileiro and the Copa do Brasil. Exceptionally, if the champion of the Campeonato Brasileiro and the Copa do Brasil is the same club, the runner-up of the Campeonato Brasileiro wins the spot. It is played in the year following the conquest of the respective titles, in a format similar to the super cups existing in several European countries. Its first edition, which took place in 1990, was played in a two-legged system; the following year the format was changed to a single match, remaining unchanged since then.
The competition was held twice in the early 1990s, followed by a hiatus of almost 30 years before a new edition. The first was in 1990, between the Brazilian Championship winner, Vasco da Gama, and the Copa do Brasil winner, Grêmio. Played over two legs, Grêmio won the title with an aggregate score of 2–0, in matches that also counted towards the 1990 Copa Libertadores. In the second edition, in 1991, now a single match, the Brazilian champion Corinthians beat the Copa do Brasil winner Flamengo 1–0 at the Morumbi stadium.
The Brazilian Super Cup returned in 2020. The match was played between Flamengo, champions of the Brazilian Championship, and Athletico Paranaense, champions of the Copa do Brasil. Unlike the last two editions, the match took place on neutral ground, at the Mané Garrincha stadium.
In 2025, the current champion is Clube de Regatas do Flamengo.
