The Campeonato Maranhense de Futebol, or simply Campeonato Maranhense, is the main football competition in Maranhão. It is organized by the Federação Maranhense de Futebol (FMF) to determine the state champion among clubs from Maranhão.
Played since 1918 at the Nhozinho Santos Stadium, one of the most traditional stadiums in the central region of the capital of Maranhão.
It wasn't until 1996 that a club from the interior of the state won the Maranhão State Football Championship, that being Bacabal, which the previous year had featured the star players Andrade and Adílio. In 2005 and 2019, the interior once again celebrated with titles won by Imperatriz, from the city of Imperatriz, which also had another champion in 2009, JV Lideral.
